Why we speak up for people living with dementia.
Mo has spent more than 12 years working in retirement living, in food and beverage, property maintenance and facility management. That work has taught him something simple: a day goes better when the people around you know you. They know how you take your coffee, the song that calms you, and the food you'd never touch.
When a person can no longer say those things, they're easily lost. Mo started Captain's Chair because he believes they shouldn't be.
Moses Oziel, Founder
Helping people with dementia keep their choices, even when they can no longer speak for themselves.
Captain's Chair is an advocacy project. We share stories and articles about what it means to be known: the small preferences, routines and comforts that make someone who they are. We speak up for the idea that those details belong in everyday care, and that families and friends, who know a person best, deserve to be heard.
Based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
A free way to record a person's preferences and allergies in one place, with a QR code that caregivers and homes can read. It isn't available yet.
